Value isn't fast food anymore

Tacos Al Pastor served at Main Street Taquitos

Value isn't fast food anymore. The first thing I think about when I hear the words " value and food" together, is the dollar menu at Mc'D's. I am often guilty of stopping by for a hot and spicy after a long night of bartending or playing music. When you google the definition of the word "value" you get this,..."a fair return or equivalent in goods, services, or money for something exchanged received good value for the price". Ok, so I can maybe see how you could be led to believe that a dollar is somewhat of a fair return for a "value" menu meal. Despite the overhead of operations and cost of product, you purchase something that momentarily satisfies your hunger. However, did you ever stop to think about the quality of the food if McD can charge a dollar for something that isn't just one ingredient? What if I told you that you could have something far better than anything you could order at a fast food place, and it was found in the heart of Fredericksburg, Texas. And, yes, they are pretty darn quick to get it to you as well.

So what makes the tacos at Main Street Taquitos possibly the best value deal on Main Street? It's not just that you're getting a taco for $1.43 when you order a box of 14 exceptional tacos. Because that alone is pretty sweet when sharing with a few of your friends, if you want to share, that is. What makes it a great value for me, is that you receive more than a fair return for your exchange. First of all, you are given the option to mix up your order of tacos in the box; my favorite is the tacos al pastor and tripas. They aren't giving you less or charging you more because of ingredients, because with your meal you also receive fresh onions, radishes, cilantro and lime wedges. And if that isn't enough, how about their delicious homemade salsa? And it's not that stuff that comes in a plastic pouch that says it's hot, but tastes just like tomato sauce.

One thing to remember when trying this place out, is that everything they make is exceptional but the value isn't just in the food. The value is in everything about this place, because you simply walk up to the the window and order right on Main Street. This is especially great for people visiting and spending the day shopping or wine tasting who need something fast on the run. This place is also great for my local friends who work on Main and might have a short break and they need a quick bite to eat. Oh, and one more perk about Main Street Taquitos! They stay open as late as 2 A.M. on the weekends! Located right next to the historic Pacific War Museum, you enjoy great scenery while you wait for your order. Last but not least, are the people who work at this local gem. They are also the owners and the friendliest people you will ever meet. So if you have a craving or you are just flat out starving, consider this happy alternative to fast food, because Main Street Taquitos has got you covered, and deliciously!
